VIDEO : Faf du Plessis pulls off spectacular diving catch

Faf du Plessis, captain of the Joburg Super Kings, made an incredible catch to cap off his team’s impressive bowling performance against the tough Sunrisers Eastern Cape team. The Super Kings were able to restrict Markram’s team to just 126-8, and this was exemplified by a well-placed delivery from Gerald Coetzee to Roelof van der Merwe, who ended up mishitting the ball towards long-off.

Faf du Plessis, positioned at the boundary, expertly tracked the ball and executed a spectacular catch with a dive while sprinting. Immediately following, Du Plessis was again in the spotlight as he made another catch to get rid of James Fuller in the same location.

Returning to the Joburg Super Kings’ remarkable bowling display, Du Plessis’s team dismissed the Sunrisers for a score of 127 in 18.4 overs. The standout performer of this innings was veteran South African spinner Aaron Phangiso, who was celebrating his birthday. He recorded the best figures in the SA20 league by taking four wickets and giving up only 20 runs.

Phangiso began his wicket-taking by claiming opener Adam Rossington, then removed Tristan Stubbs with another excellent delivery. The 39-year-old then took out in-form all-rounder Marco Jansen. Phangiso rounded out his four wickets by dismissing JJ Smits.

Wicketkeeper Donavon Ferreira played a crucial role in all four of Left-arm orthodox bowler Phangiso’s dismissals. Ferreira had a successful game as he also caught Eastern Cape captain Aiden Markram off Romario Shepard’s bowling. Along with Phangiso, Gerald Coetzee also took four wickets and played a key role in dismantling the Sunrisers’ lower batting order.
