Former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar found himself facing the ire of fans due to a mysterious social media post he shared before the highly anticipated India-Pakistan clash at the 2023 World Cup.
On his social media platform of choice, Akhtar shared a picture from his playing days, capturing a moment of celebration, and he added the caption: “Tomorrow, history will echo itself.”
He followed this with another image showcasing his jubilation after dismissing Sachin Tendulkar in an old game, with the legendary Indian batsman in the background. Interestingly, Akhtar later chose to remove the post, even though it had already been shared.
While the post seemed to suggest that Pakistan might emerge victorious against India, it stirred Indian fans, particularly, who took an active role in trolling Akhtar by highlighting India’s dominant historical record over their subcontinental rivals in World Cup matches.
