In Match 47 of IPL 2025 between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, young Indian batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi stunned the cricketing world by smashing a century in just 35 balls.
The breathtaking knock not only became the second-fastest century in IPL history but also set a new record for the fastest by an Indian player, surpassing Yusuf Pathan’s long-standing feat. The innings was a showcase of fearless strokeplay, composure, and raw talent that instantly made Vaibhav the talk of the tournament.
The young batter’s explosive performance earned praise from fans and cricketers alike, with several current and former players taking to social media to applaud him. Among them was Indian Test cricketer Hanuma Vihari, who posted a salute emoji and used the hashtag #VaibhavSuryavanshi on platform X (formerly Twitter) to show his admiration for the teenager’s achievement. The moment highlighted the supportive camaraderie within Indian cricket as veterans acknowledged the rising stars.

However, Vihari’s post also invited a humorous comment from a fan, who replied, “Dream for you.” Rather than taking offense, Vihari showcased his humility and wit by responding, “100%… you too my friend!” His good-natured reply won over many on social media, with fans appreciating his self-awareness and sporting spirit. It was a brief but telling interaction that reflected Vihari’s grounded personality.
Hanuma Vihari, known for his grit and determination in the longest format, made his Test debut for India in 2018 against England at The Oval. He impressed with a half-century in his debut innings and went on to play 16 Tests, scoring 839 runs with one century and five fifties. Though more recognized for his contributions in red-ball cricket, Vihari has also been part of the IPL ecosystem in the past.
Vihari featured in the IPL across three seasons. He played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2013 and 2015, scoring 280 runs in 22 matches and taking one wicket. After a four-year absence from the league, he returned briefly in 2019 with Delhi Capitals but featured in only two games, scoring just four runs.
Since then, he has remained out of IPL contention, with his last appearance in the tournament coming nearly six years ago. Despite his absence from the IPL, moments like his response to Vaibhav’s century show that Vihari continues to stay connected to the game and its emerging talents.
