England’s captain, Jos Buttler, found himself seeking assistance from Pakistan’s skipper, Babar Azam, to decipher Rohit Sharma’s comical response during the Captains’ Day press conference leading up to the 2023 World Cup, scheduled to commence in India on Thursday, October 5.
The question posed to the Indian captain revolved around whether England and New Zealand should have been declared joint winners of the 2019 World Cup, given that England secured victory based on boundary count after the final ended in a tied Super Over.
Rohit Sharma expressed his disbelief upon hearing the question and responded with sarcasm, stating that he wasn’t responsible for declaring the winners of the World Cup.
Following Rohit’s response, the entire room burst into laughter, but it was understandable that Jos Buttler, who didn’t comprehend the exchange due to both the question and the answer being in Hindi, was left puzzled. Babar Azam stepped in and could be seen explaining the entire incident to Buttler. Watch the video here:

Jos Buttler has revealed that star all-rounder Ben Stokes is currently dealing with a hip injury, and his availability for the opening match of the tournament against New Zealand in Ahmedabad is uncertain.
Stokes came out of retirement to be part of the squad for England’s title defense. While his left knee issue was widely known, the hip injury raises concerns for the defending champions.
