Mark Wood will be unavailable for the final stages of IPL 2023

Mark Wood has been an outstanding performer for the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2023 with his bowling skills. The right-arm fast bowler has employed various techniques to take wickets at critical stages of the game.

In the ongoing season of the IPL, he is ranked sixth among the leading wicket-takers. Mark has played four games and taken an impressive tally of eleven wickets, which is quite remarkable.

With a bowling average of 11.82 and one five-wicket haul to his credit, Mark achieved his IPL career-best bowling figures of 5/14 against the Delhi Capitals. His contributions have been instrumental in the success of the Lucknow Super Giants this season.

The Lucknow-based franchise currently stands third on the points table, having won four matches and suffered three defeats. On April 28, they will face off against the Punjab Kings at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium.

Lucknow Super Giants have received a significant setback as Mark Wood will miss the final stages of the IPL 2023 season due to personal reasons. According to ESPNCricinfo, the right-arm fast bowler will skip the remaining matches of the season to be present at the birth of his daughter.

As a consequence, he is expected to return home sometime in the coming weeks. After facing off against Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants have two more matches to play against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings on May 1 and 3 respectively.

In Mark Wood’s absence, the franchise has opted for the Afghan seamer Naveen-ul-Haq, who has delivered impressive performances in his first two games.
