MI vs RR or MI vs CSK: Which is the 1000th Match of IPL History

There has been significant buzz surrounding the 1000th game of the world’s largest T20 league. The milestone match, which took place on Sunday, was number 42 of this season and featured MI and RR. The question of whether it was the 1000th match of IPL history, compared to the MI vs CSK match, has been a topic of discussion.

This year, the Indian Premier League reached a historic milestone of 1000 matches as it completed 15 years. To celebrate this achievement, the ceremonial game was played between the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians, and the first-ever champions of the tournament, Rajasthan Royals.

The Wankhede Stadium was adorned with special banners for the occasion, and a large Mumbai crowd turned out for the marquee game, which officially marked the 1000th IPL match on Sunday night.

There has been significant confusion regarding the landmark 1000th game of the IPL. The official 1000th game of the IPL, including the 7 abandoned games, was played between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians.

However, if we exclude the 7 abandoned games in which not a single ball was bowled, the match on May 6th between MI and CSK is actually the 1000th game. There have been 7 matches that were completely washed out by the rain. Taking those matches into consideration, the MI-CSK match on Saturday will be considered the landmark match.

In the historic game against Rajasthan Royals, the most successful team in the league, Mumbai Indians, did not disappoint their fans and sealed a thumping victory in the marquee 1000th IPL game.
