Former Indian cricketer and well-known commentator Ravi Shastri had an enjoyable exchange with Babar Azam during the Captains’ Day event in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, October 4, leading up to the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup.
All ten team captains have gathered for this event to share their thoughts with the media. The World Cup is set to kick off on Thursday with the opening match between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Both teams were finalists in the previous edition of the tournament in 2019. The match ended in a tie, and even the super-over couldn’t break the deadlock. England was ultimately declared the winner based on the boundary count rule.
During the captain’s event this afternoon, the host Ravi Shastri warmly welcomed Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam and humorously asked him, “Babar, kaisa laga biryani?” (How did you find the biryani?)

Babar chuckled heartily and responded positively, mentioning that they had heard about the renowned Hyderabadi Biryani and enjoyed trying it.
