RP Singh, a former Indian cricketer, surprised many by revealing his favourite captain from his time in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite playing under renowned leaders such as MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, Singh picked former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist as his preferred skipper.
Gilchrist famously led the Deccan Chargers to their first IPL championship in 2009, a team with which Singh was associated in the first three editions of the league (2008-2010) before moving on to Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011.
Singh went on to play for the Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Rising Pune Super Giants before his final IPL appearance under the captaincy of MS Dhoni in 2016.
RP Singh revealed that his favourite IPL captain was Adam Gilchrist, under whom he played during his time with the Deccan Chargers. The former Indian pacer explained that Gilchrist was able to lead the team to victory in the IPL, even after finishing last in the points table in the first year. Singh also pointed out that
Gilchrist, a former Australian captain, had been the captain of the Deccan Chargers for three years. The reason for Gilchrist being Singh’s favourite was the fact that after finishing last in the first year, the team was able to bounce back under Gilchrist’s leadership and turn the tables around.
RP Singh expressed that his top favourite IPL captain was Adam Gilchrist, who had previously captained the Australian cricket team. Gilchrist served as the leader of the Deccan Chargers for three consecutive years, making him a familiar face to Singh.
The reason behind Singh’s admiration for Gilchrist was the fact that despite finishing at the bottom of the table in the first year, the team bounced back under his captaincy in the following year and managed to turn things around, eventually finishing at the top of the table.
