Former Indian cricketer S Sreesanth delivered a strong response to Pakistan team director Mickey Arthur’s comment regarding the ICC and BCCI. Following the India-Pakistan clash in the 2023 ODI World Cup, Arthur suggested that the match resembled a BCCI event more than an ICC one. Additionally, he expressed dissatisfaction with the level of support for the Men in Green at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
Nevertheless, the comment didn’t sit well with Indian fans and former players, including Sreesanth. The former fast bowler, during an interview with Sportskeeda, remarked that India’s matches often have the feel of a BCCI event. He humorously suggested that Arthur should watch the movie ’83’ with subtitles to better understand the significance of these encounters.
The ex-cricketer stated, “Whenever India competes, it never feels like an ICC event; it always feels like a BCCI event. We should screen the movie ’83’ for him with subtitles. That way, he can grasp the evolution of the BCCI from its early days to the present. The journey is profoundly significant, as it’s a story of motivation and inspiration.”
Sreesanth continued, “The BCCI has achieved its top position through significant effort. Both the administrators and players have reached an exceptional level. Even if our ‘C’ team participated in the World Cup, it would be a formidable squad. How would the ICC react? Consider the scenario if the World Cup were held in England. During my two-year stint in Durban, I still felt like I was in India.”
Remarkably, India secured a resounding seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in their eighth World Cup encounter.
