According to some reports the team owners of Indian Premier League is not in the favor of retaining three players by each franchise in the next edition of this league. They like to avail of each player in the open auction.
A franchise owner said,”We are not too convinced with the idea because retention kills the chances of the big names being available for auction. Also, the whole idea of the auction came from the transfer window in football. And if you look at them, every player is free to move to whichever club they feel like according to their preference and the financial offers.”
“If retention is applicable even in the mega-auction, then what sort of a fresh auction is it? We will surely bring this matter up with other owners and the GC during the workshop. As of now, we would like to believe that the old decision stands and all players will be available at the auction,” the IPL’s official said.
Nevertheless the final decision on this matter will come on November 14 after the meeting by the officials and the team owners. The few owners opposed to this decision due to they eagerly want the star batsmen like Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina in their own respective teams.
As we all know that the two champion teams Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are all ready to back in the league after the end of two year suspension. The both team were suspended due to involvement of their owners in the spot fixing.
