The Australian skipper Steven Smith delivered a brilliant double century in the third test of Ashes Test. That is the second double century of the Test career of the number 1 Test batsman.
Smith is the second non-opener to score a double-hundred for Australia in an Ashes Test at home after after Sir Don Bradman in 1946. The first entry on the list is, in fact, a triple-hundred by Bob Cowper 307, at the MCG, in 1966.
Smith is now the second Australian player to score 200 in an Ashes Test at home since 1971. Just FYI, the first man on the list was Justin Langer with a 250 at the MCG in 2002.

Second Ashes double hundred. @stevesmith49 is a batting monster. Think we put in more effort to tweet than he does for scoring those runs.. So damn effortless. Brilliant. 👏🏻👏🏻#TheAshes2017 #SteveSmith

Steve Smith's 200 off 301 balls is the quickest Ashes double-century for Australia in almost 80 years (i.e since 257-ball 200 by Stan McCabe in Nottingham 1938). #Ashes

Steve Smith's 200. The Chilean miners were easier to get out.

The fact that Mitch Marsh hasn't been in Smith's shadow today says it all. If this is his 'breakthrough innings', the Aussie Test team just got much better #Ashes

Oh c’mon…its too easy for you. Bat left handed in the second innings, Steve Smith. Simply Unstoppable. 🏏🙏 #22 #Ashes
