The Sri Lankan captain Dinesh Chandimal acted a fake throw while fielding in the first test match of Paytm series between India and Sri Lanka. According to the new rule, the umpire has a power to give five penalty runs to the opponent due to any fake fielding.
Bhuvneshwar stays behind the line and pushes it in the gap past cover-point. Chandimal chases and puts in the slide, but he was nowhere near the ball. It isn’t called for fake fielding and the umpire decides against handing a penalty. Kohli isn’t amused in the dressing room, signals that it should have been five penalty runs.
