Virat Kohli is considered one of the top batsmen of his time. Recently, he overcame a period of poor performance and regained his dominant form. Kohli had not scored a century in over three years, but broke that streak in the Asia Cup against Afghanistan in a T20I match. He has continued to excel, hitting three centuries in his last seven ODI matches. He is now just three ODI centuries away from tying Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI centuries.
A seasoned Pakistani batsman has stated that his record in List A cricket surpasses that of Virat Kohli. In a recent interview, Khurram Manzoor, who has played in 16 Tests, 7 ODIs, and 3 T20Is for Pakistan, was questioned about his claim that his List A statistics are superior to Kohli’s.
Manzoor stated that his goal was not to compare himself to the former Indian captain, Virat Kohli, but to highlight his own accomplishments in domestic cricket. He emphasized that in 50-over cricket, he holds the world number one ranking, with a century scored every 5.68 innings, a world record. He also mentioned that over the last 10 years, his average is 53 and he is ranked fifth in the world for List A cricket. He made these comments during an appearance on Nadir Ali’s Podcast.
Manzoor, at 36 years of age, stated that despite his consistent performance and scoring runs in domestic cricket, he has been overlooked by the national selectors. He mentioned that in the last 48 innings, he scored 24 centuries and between 2015 and now, he remains the leading scorer among openers for Pakistan. Additionally, he highlighted that he is the top scorer and century getter in national T20 yet he continues to be ignored. He also shared that he holds 8-9 records in List A cricket.
Manzoor has not appeared in a match for Pakistan since the Asia Cup in 2016. During this time, he has been focusing on improving his skills in Pakistan’s Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and National Cup. Representing Sindh in domestic cricket, he has amassed more than 12,000 runs in First-Class matches and nearly 8,000 runs in List A cricket.
