Banter or ‘Friendly Trolls’ has always been an important part of cricket. It leads to trash talk before the matches and adds to the excitement for the matches. With the 5-match Test series between India and England scheduled to start in 2 weeks time, the stakes are at an all time high and as anticipated, targeted banters have started from both the sides. It was the English fans that initiated the trolls this time. ‘Barmy Army’ is a well-known community of English Cricket fans who are famous for their mad support for England’s cricket teams and trolls against the opposition teams. It was they who initiated the banters.

As we all know, The Tokyo Olympics commenced yesterday and India have already opened their books with a silver medal, thanks to Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu. Referring to the Tokyo Olympics, and using an old picture of Virat Kohli, the Barmy Army tried taking a dig at the Indian skipper. Posting an old pic of Virat Kohli holding a bow and arrow, they wrote on their official twitter handle, “BREAKING NEWS: Virat is out of the upcoming Test Series as he’s in Tokyo preparing for the Archery. In the picture that the Barmy army posted, Wasim Jaffer was also standing beside him. So how could he have not responded to the banter. Using a meme template from the Bollywood Film ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ that said “Iske pass Jo Ganja hai woh humko chahiye” (translation: I need to smoke what he is smoking), he wrote “Barmy Army or Bar mein Army? ”
