In a crucial must-win game, the Trent Rockets faced the table-topping Southern Brave at Southampton. Trent Rockets’ captain, Lewis Gregory, won the toss and opted to bat first, and the decision initially paid off.

Openers Tom Banton and Adam Lyth raced to 43/0 after five overs. However, the spin duo of Akeal Hosein and Danny Briggs shifted the momentum by dismissing both openers and Alex Hales.

The situation worsened for the Rockets when Joe Root was dismissed following a spectacular catch by Alex Davies. On the 62nd delivery, Jofra Archer bowled a cleverly disguised slower ball wide outside off stump.

Root, unable to read the delivery, attempted an ambitious shot but edged the ball towards Davies. Displaying remarkable reflexes, the Lancashire wicketkeeper dived full length to his right and snatched the ball with one hand in a stunning display of skill.

The timing and execution of Davies’ leap were exceptional, earning him praise from the crowd and widespread acclaim on social media.
