WATCH : Andile exhibits even worse aim than his horrendous decision making to spare Afghans

Afghanistan made a solid start batting first against South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadium, but their momentum faltered with three quick wickets after the eighth over.

Despite this, Rahmat Shah and Azmatullah Omarzai stabilized, crafting a well-controlled 51-run partnership before Lungi Ngidi’s breakthrough.

Notably, an earlier opportunity to break the partnership was missed due to Andile Phehlukwayo’s run-out blunder.

In the 23rd over, Azmatullah Omarzai lofted Phehlukwayo’s delivery over cover. Temba Bavuma retrieved the ball near the ropes and threw accurately to the bowler, who collected it cleanly behind the stumps.

Meanwhile, the Afghan duo attempted a third run but changed their minds in the middle of the pitch. Phehlukwayo had a chance to run out Rahmat Shah but hesitated, attempting a direct hit late. Despite an easy opportunity, Phehlukwayo’s throw missed the mark, letting the chance to dismiss Rahmat slip away.
