In Match 47 of IPL 2023 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Andre Russell came in to bat at No. 6 and scored 24 off 15 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
However, despite his efforts, the 35-year-old may have wished he had stayed at the crease longer to help Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) score more than 171/9.
To add to his woes, when Nitish Rana asked Russell to bowl the last over of the Powerplay, he began with an overstep that Rahul Tripathi hit for four runs. The following two balls went for six and four, damaging his bowling figures.
Nevertheless, Russell regained his confidence and bowled a fullish-length delivery, clocked at 116 kph. Tripathi attempted to scoop it after shuffling across the stumps but misjudged the pace, resulting in him being caught by Vaibhav Arora at deep fine leg.
Russell was delighted to see his strategy work and celebrated Tripathi’s wicket by roaring and throwing his arms in the air. He also gave Tripathi an epic send-off, and Twitter users were amused by his antics.
