When India won the toss and elected to bowl in Dharamshala, New Zealand’s opening batsmen faced difficulties in scoring. Regrettably, Devon Conway’s innings was abruptly terminated after managing only 9 runs when he was dismissed by Siraj with a fuller ball on the leg side, tempting Conway into a deft glance shot.

Conway executed the shot skillfully, but it was Shreyas Iyer at square leg who made the crucial difference. Siraj’s wicket maiden energized Team India’s spirits, but the 5th over saw Bumrah concede just one run from the two balls he bowled.

During the third ball, Bumrah delivered a length ball angling in from around the wicket to Ravindra. The ball hit the pads and veered towards the leg side. India immediately appealed for an LBW, but the umpire showed little interest. Fielders and the captain convened for a brief discussion.

Bumrah, however, signaled that the ball was missing the stumps and continued his bowling. In a contrasting decision, the Indian captain opted to challenge the umpire’s call by initiating a review.

Unfortunately, India lost their review as the ball was confirmed to be angling well down the leg side, resulting in a wasted review.
