WATCH : Cameraman takes ‘instant retirement’ after Daryl Mitchell aims for headshot

After securing a victory in the initial T20I against Pakistan, New Zealand found themselves batting first at Seddon Park, Hamilton.

They enjoyed a strong start, thanks to Finn Allen’s aggressive play. However, an amusing incident unfolded after the drinks break when a cameraman narrowly escaped being hit by the ball as Daryl Mitchell smashed a six in the 11th over.

During the third delivery of the eleventh over, Abbas Afridi delivered a full-length ball just outside the off-stump line. Mitchell skillfully lofted it over the long-off region, perfectly timed.

The ball landed on the handheld camera of a videographer stationed near the boundary ropes. The person operating the camera momentarily panicked as the cricket ball struck the rear part of the device. Quickly, he retreated from his position, blending his initial fear with humor, culminating in a playful smile.

Babar Azam, the former Pakistan captain fielding in the deep, checked on him after the close call, recognizing the potential for a head injury or damage to the equipment. Fans closely observed this incident and readily shared their perspectives.
