The 22-year old Chris Benjamin in the spotlight after playing a match winning knock of 24 from 15 balls for the Birmingham Phoenix over London Spirit.

Chris Benjamin who made his professional debut 5 days ago won the match for the Birmingham Phoenix against the London Spirit. Last Sunday he smashed 34 ball 60 in the T20 blast for the Warwickshire when his fellow WK-Batsman Adam Hose was sidelined with injury.

The South African born Chris Benjamin wasn’t even supposed to play The Hundred few dats ago. But after his heroics in the blast he was called up by the Birmingham Phoenix management.

When 24 required from 14, Benjamin smashed 2 consecutive six one of them an audacious reverse scoop over his shoulder – and a four, sending the sizeable home crowd gone wild.

With only one professional match, making him the least experienced player in the competition

After his sensational scooped six he hit a huge pull over square leg two balls later.

Many in the crowd wouldn’t have heard of him at the start of play but by the end they were singing “oh Benji, Benji…”.

“I still need to pinch myself and wake up from the dream,” Benjamin said.
