By scoring 214/8 in the first innings, Punjab Kings ensured that the spectators would be treated to a high-scoring contest. Although the run rate seemed to be dwindling when they were reduced to 83/4, Sam Curran and Harpreet Singh Bhatia’s partnership not only helped the team recover but also posted a challenging total for the opposition.
The pair aggressively attacked every bowler, including Arjun Tendulkar, who had a forgettable day by conceding 31 runs in a single over.
During the 16th over of the innings, Arjun was under pressure as the match had entered the death overs. Sam Curran kicked off the over with a six straight over mid-off, and Arjun followed it up with a wide. Curran then hit a boundary towards the third man and gave the strike to Bhatia on the fourth delivery.
The Madhya Pradesh cricketer then scored 10 runs in the next two balls, adding insult to injury for Arjun Tendulkar. Arjun was to face more carnage, but his own mistake caused it. Instead of concluding the over with a legitimate delivery, he bowled a no ball, conceding four runs on it.
Harpreet then wrapped up the 16th over with a boundary. The duo scored a whopping 31 runs from the over, making it the joint most expensive over of the season. The left-arm seamer from Mumbai will want to forget this day quickly.
