Harry Brook and Joe Root resumed the second day of the Lord’s Test from where they left off on the first day, carefully negating the West Indies bowlers.
However, Alzarri Joseph and Gudakesh Motie made further inroads, with the rest of the bowlers following suit. An excellent runout at the end of their innings brought James Anderson to the field, greeted by a standing ovation from the crowd.
On the second ball of the 90th over, Jayden Seales bowled a fuller delivery outside off-stump that Jamie Smith tried to heave but got a leading edge, sending the ball flying towards deep cover.
Mikyle Louis sprinted in from the deep and nailed a direct hit at the non-striker’s end, catching Shoaib Bashir nearly a foot short of the crease in an attempt at a double. The debutant Windies player was ecstatic, sprinting around the field and receiving applause from teammates.

However, attention quickly shifted to the incoming batter, James Anderson, who walked downstairs from the iconic Lord’s long room to enter the field for his farewell Test. The crowd greeted him with a standing ovation, joined by the Twitterverse.
