Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a disappointing season in IPL 2022, finishing second-bottom on the points table with four wins and 10 defeats.
Their bowling was a major contributing factor to their lacklustre performance, as Deepak Chahar, one of their key players, missed the entire season due to a back injury. Chahar, who was bought for INR 14 crores at the previous mega auction, was expected to deliver but was unable to due to his injuries.
Chahar, known for his Powerplay expertise, suffered a stress fracture and a quad grade 3 tear, causing him to miss several matches for India, including the T20 World Cup in Australia.
He was set to make his return to the CSK squad for IPL 2023, but in Match 11 against Mumbai Indians, he suffered a left hamstring injury after bowling five deliveries. Despite finishing the over, he was unable to continue playing.
CSK fans and Twitterati expressed their sadness over Chahar’s latest injury, as they lack a well-known face to lead their pace attack, potentially leading to another disastrous season.
