WATCH : Deepti reject second run as Voll fails to become WPL’s maiden centurion

After being asked to bat first by Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Smriti Mandhana, UP Warriorz openers Grace Harris and Georgia Voll launched a ruthless attack on the opposition bowlers.

With 70 runs on the board by the end of the powerplay, Voll set her sights on converting her fifty into a hundred.

As the innings neared its conclusion, Voll was on the brink of becoming the first-ever WPL centurion—until Deepti Sharma’s misjudgment spoiled the moment.

On the final ball of the 20th over, Charlie Dean bowled a fuller delivery at the stumps, which Voll, on 98*, mishit toward long on.

As the fielder from the deep sprinted in to make a throw, Voll attempted to complete a second run, but Deepti stopped her at the halfway mark.

Appearing unsure, Deepti sent Voll back to the crease, but despite the effort, she was found short of the striker’s end, leading to a last-ball dismissal.

The Twitterverse erupted in anger, criticizing Deepti’s decision as selfish for not taking the risk to help her teammate secure the hundred.
