WATCH : du Plooy and Topley engaged in heated war of words

In pursuit of the daunting target of 212 runs, Joburg Super Kings faced an early setback when DSG’s Naveen ul Haq dismissed JSK skipper Faf du Plessis in just the second over, stunning the Wanderers crowd into silence.

Despite du Plessis’ impressive season, boasting 239 runs with an average close to 30, he failed to ignite the fireworks needed for such a crucial match. The focus then shifted to Reeza Hendricks and du Plooy to lead the Super Kings’ charge.

Tensions escalated during the third over as Reece Topley and du Plooy engaged in a verbal altercation, injecting an added intensity into the contest. However, the fired-up Super Giants continued to maintain relentless pressure with the white ball.

On the third ball of the third over, Topley delivered a short-pitched ball that narrowly evaded du Plooy’s attempted pull shot, ending up in the hands of wicketkeeper de Kock.

Topley, visibly charged up, strode towards du Plooy for a confrontational exchange. Despite the heated moment, du Plooy stood his ground, refusing to back down from the challenge.

Meanwhile, substitute fielder Marnus Stoinis offered support to du Plooy by patting his back, while Topley resumed his walk back to his bowling mark.
