Australia won the toss and opted to bat first but faced an early setback when Mitch Marsh departed without scoring. Subsequently, David Warner and Steve Smith exhibited composed batting, crafting a partnership worth 71 runs.

India got the breakthrough they needed when Warner was dismissed, changing the course of the game. From that moment onwards, the spinners took control. In the 27th over, Ravindra Jadeja bowled a remarkable delivery to dismiss Smith, leaving Australia at 110/3.

The Australian innings quickly unraveled, plummeting to 140/7. Although the situation looked dire with over 13 overs remaining, the lower-order batsmen fought valiantly, pushing the score to 199, with Mitchell Starc contributing a valuable 28 runs.

Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling performance was exceptional, finishing with match-winning figures of 10-3-28-3. Following the impressive display by the Indian bowlers, the Australian team responded in kind, causing an early collapse for India. Captain Rohit Sharma, who had replaced Shubman Gill with Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer were all dismissed for ducks, leaving India reeling at 2/3 after just 2 overs.

However, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul steadied the ship and gradually built India’s innings with a remarkable 165-run partnership. Eventually, KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 97, and along with Hardik Pandya, they sealed the victory with 52 balls to spare.
