English Fans throw Champagne corks at KL Rahul: Indian cricketers facing pathetic and unacceptable behaviour on foreign tours has now become an everyday thing, especially in test cricket. On-field sledging does not work that well nowadays and team India knows very well how to handle those. Therefore, teams like Australia and England use a whole new method to mentally breakdown the opposition players nowadays by utilising their twelfth man, i.e, their fans.

Indian cricketers have been subject to banters and even racist comments on several occasions throughout their test series against Australia earlier this year. Incidents of Australian fans hurling racist abuses at Mohammad Siraj made it to the headlines during that time. Team India are now facing the same thing in the ongoing test series against England as well.

Indian opener KL Rahul played exceptionally well in their first innings of the Lord’s test and scored a phenomenal century as well. He is thus being targeted by the English fans who are trying to distract him while he is fielding. On Day 2, KL Rahul was fielding near the boundary line at one point and the English fans started throwing Champagne bottle corks at him. It made Virat Kohli very angry and the Indian skippers asked Rahul to throw them back at the fans.

Indian fans have exploded on twitter regarding the incident and they are heavily criticizing the english fans. Many are of the opinion that the ones responsible must be found out and punished as per necessity.

This is clearly a pressure building strategy by the English fans but at some point they totally cross the limits and must be stopped anyhow.
