Mohit Sharma takes a stunning catch to dismiss Shardul Thakur, who was caught by Thakur off Shami’s delivery. Despite an injury to his left hand and a brief pause to apply an ice pack, Mohit Sharma proves nothing can stop him from making diving and challenging catches.
Shardul’s shot initially appeared promising, but ended up being a complete mishit, prompting mid-on to run back, look over his right shoulder, and stretch out fully, but Mohit made a perfect judgement and caught the ball.
This wicket belongs to the fielder, raising questions as to why Shardul was sent in to bat, given that the team had not gotten off to a particularly poor start and did not require a pinch hitter.
In Match 39 of IPL 2023, the Kolkata Knight Riders are set to face off against the Gujarat Titans at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. These two teams have already faced each other earlier this season in Match 13, where Kolkata emerged victorious by three wickets in Ahmedabad.

KKR successfully chased a target of 205 runs, reaching 207/7 in 20 overs, with Venkatesh Iyer leading the charge by smashing 83 runs off just 40 balls. Captain Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh also contributed with 45 and 49 unbeaten runs respectively. Rashid Khan and Alzarri Joseph picked up two wickets each for the Gujarat Titans.
Gujarat had initially posted a total of 204/4 in their 20 overs, with Sunil Narine taking a three-wicket haul for KKR. Vijay Shankar was the top scorer for Gujarat with an unbeaten knock of 63 runs off 24 balls. Kolkata, currently placed seventh in the standings, will be eager to turn their campaign around, while the third-placed Gujarat Titans will look to maintain their momentum.
