In their match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday evening, Chennai Super Kings dominated the first innings with their explosive batting, reaching a score of 169/2 with four overs to spare.
Although the pitch was expected to produce such a performance, it was surprising to see Ajinkya Rahane play some unorthodox shots while Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway were in fine form.
Rahane came in to bat in the eighth over with the score at 73/1 and initially played a subdued innings. However, in the 14th over, when Umesh Yadav returned to bowl, the veteran batsman showed his unconventional side.
He started off with a full-faced slash for a six and followed it up with a reverse scoop that sailed over the wicket-keeper’s head, leaving everyone in awe.

Yadav then bowled a fullish delivery outside off, but Rahane responded with a beautifully-timed cover drive that raced to the boundary. This shot was a reminder of Rahane’s class and skill as a batsman.
