In the IPL 2023 match at Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) chose to bowl first against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis provided RCB with an explosive start, amassing 96 runs for the opening wicket. However, Amit Mishra managed to dismiss Kohli for 61 runs off 44 balls in the 12th over.
RCB captain, Glenn Maxwell, then joined du Plessis as they sought to take advantage of the strong start. Both teams made some changes to their lineups for this match, with Mark Wood returning to LSG’s playing XI. Meanwhile, Bangalore have included Wayne Parnell to bolster their bowling attack.
Ravi Bishnoi just got hit for a massive six by du Plessis. The ball was dropped short, but du Plessis stayed back and smashed it for a 115-meter six. It was a one-way ticket for that ball, and it’s safe to say that was one of his longest sixes ever in the IPL. “Massive” is an understatement!
Du Plessis smashes Ravi Bishnoi for a flat six, causing the bowler to alter his length. Bishnoi responds with a short delivery, but Du Plessis adjusts by moving onto his back foot and smashing a 115-meter six that lands on the Chinnaswamy roof.
Maxwell then adds to the fun by hitting another maximum to end the over. RCB scores 20 runs off the over, taking them to 137/1 in 15 overs. Despite Bishnoi’s efforts, he fails to take a wicket and concedes 39 runs in his four overs.
