During the second India vs Afghanistan T20I at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on January 14, a young enthusiast breached security to embrace Virat Kohli, even going so far as to touch the cricketer’s feet.
Following the incident, the Madhya Pradesh police detained the fan, transporting him to the Tukoganj police station for questioning.
This T20I match marked Kohli’s return to the format after his last appearance for the Men in Blue during the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. He had missed the first T20I in Mohali for personal reasons.
While the crowd celebrated Kohli’s comeback, one fan took it too far by breaking security measures to approach Kohli. The fan, who had a valid ticket, entered the Holkar Stadium through the Narendra Hirwani Gate.
According to a police official quoted by news agency PTI, the man, evidently a fervent Kohli supporter, accessed the Indore ground by scaling the fence of the spectators’ gallery.
