India surged to a formidable total of 180/7 at St George’s Park, driven by Rinku Singh’s commanding and unbeaten innings of 69 runs from just 38 deliveries.
The 26-year-old showcased his boundary-hitting prowess, finding the fence nine times and dispatching the ball over it twice, both sixes arriving off consecutive deliveries in the 19th over delivered by his opponent, Aiden Markram.
The first six saw Rinku confidently advancing down the track to powerfully send the ball soaring into the long on-stand, while the second stroke left a memorable mark on the stadium’s history.
Markram attempted to deceive Rinku with a flatter, faster delivery aimed at the leg stump, following a loopier ball delivered on a similar line in the previous delivery.
However, the batsman was more than prepared for the challenge. Rinku swiftly moved his feet to reach the ball’s pitch, executing a swift and elegant straight swing with his bat.

The ball rocketed off the bat’s impact, traveling flat and far before slamming into the media center with immense force, creating a significant crack in a substantial portion of the glass window.
