WATCH : FRUSTRATED Rishabh Pant SMASHING Bat In Anger In Tunnel

The Rajasthan Royals defeated the Delhi Capitals by 12 runs in the 9th match of IPL 2024. Riyan Parag emerged as the hero of the match. However, on the other hand, Delhi’s captain Rishabh Pant also made headlines. Pant appeared visibly upset after getting out. So much so that when he left the field, he did something in anger which some videos of are now viral on social media.

Chasing 185 runs, Delhi’s team had scored 105 runs for the loss of three wickets in 13 overs. Captain Rishabh Pant was playing at 28 runs off 25 balls. The team needed 81 runs to win the match. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal came to bowl the 14th over. Chahal got a wicket off the first ball of the over. Pant thought he could hit the ball. He played the shot but the ball took the edge and went straight into wicketkeeper Sanju Samson’s gloves. Pant was caught out.

Pant was visibly angry at the way he got out. His anger surfaced while going towards the dressing room. Pant hit his bat on the cushions lying on the way. Several clips of his reaction are viral on social media.

Rishabh Pant’s innings wasn’t particularly special. He scored 28 runs off 26 balls, hitting two fours and one six. Besides Pant, Tristan Stubs and David Warner played innings of 44 and 49 runs respectively. However, Delhi’s team couldn’t win the match. They had to face defeat in the match by 12 runs. This is Delhi Capitals’ consecutive second loss. They had lost their first match against Punjab.

Speaking to broadcasters after the match, Pant said, “I am definitely disappointed. We can learn from this match. Our bowlers bowled well till the 15th-16th over. Batters sometimes score runs quickly in death overs, but that didn’t happen in this match. Marsh and Warner gave us a good start. But we lost some wickets in the middle overs. Hopefully, we’ll perform better in the next match.”

In the match, Delhi Capitals’ captain Rishabh Pant won the toss against Rajasthan Royals and decided to bowl. Rajasthan’s team scored 185 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. For the team, Riyan Parag played the highest innings of 84 runs. R Ashwin scored 29 runs off 19 balls. Dhruv Jurel scored 20 and Hetmyer scored 14 runs. For Delhi, Khalil Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, Akshar Patel, Enrique Nortje, and Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket each.

Chasing 185 runs, Delhi’s team could only score 173 runs for the loss of five wickets. Opener Warner scored 49 and Mishael Marsh scored 23 runs. Captain Pant scored 28 and Stubs played an innings of 44 runs. For Rajasthan, Burger and Chahal took two wickets each. Pacer Avesh Khan took one wicket. Riyan Parag was awarded the Player of the Match for his splendid innings.
