WATCH : Hardik Pandya stares after Shubman Gill drops Head’s catch in 3rd ODI

Australia made an excellent start to their innings in the final ODI of the series against India in Chennai. The opening pair of Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh added 68 runs for the first wicket before Hardik Pandya got the breakthrough by dismissing Head for 33.

However, just before the dismissal, Head had received a lifeline when Shubman Gill dropped a catch at deep square leg despite a valiant effort.

Travis Head had played a pull shot to a short delivery from Pandya. Shubman Gill ran towards deep square leg to catch the ball, but unfortunately, he could not hold on to it despite a valiant effort. Gill tried to dive forward, but the ball went past him and reached the boundary for a four.

Fortune favored Pandya as he managed to dismiss Head on the fifth delivery of his over; this time, Head attempted a cut towards third man, but Kuldeep Yadav stationed there, caught it with ease. Pandya’s next over proved even more fruitful for India, as he claimed the wicket of Australian captain Steve Smith for a duck, putting India right back in the game after Australia’s impressive start.

Australia had won the toss and chose to bat in Chennai, while India took the field with the exact same lineup that suffered a humiliating 10-wicket defeat to Australia in the second ODI in Visakhapatnam.
