Melbourne Renegades Women had a turbulent start when they chose to bat against Perth Scorchers Women. They found themselves at 64/3 after nine overs. However, Harmanpreet, in partnership with Georgia Wareham, played a crucial role in helping their team reach a total of 171 in 20 overs.
While Harmanpreet’s unbeaten 52-run innings was impressive, the most talked-about moment of the game was her interaction with Devine, during which Perth’s wicket-keeper Beth Mooney made a humorous comment.
During the 16th over, as Devine prepared to deliver the final ball, Harmanpreet, who was at the striker’s end, was still getting into her stance. Without hesitation, the Perth skipper bowled the ball wide of the off stump.
Harmanpreet promptly signaled to Devine and the umpire that she wasn’t prepared to face the delivery. This led to a heated exchange of words between Harmanpreet and Devine. Eventually, the umpire declared the delivery a dead ball.
"There's a bit of argy-bargy going on between Harmanpreet (Kaur) and Soph (Devine), and I'm actually not sure who would win that battle because Harmanpreet scares me a little bit," says Beth Mooney as she describes what's happening… 😅 #WBBL09 pic.twitter.com/LOpRPKetyg

Mooney, who was behind the stumps, found the lighter side of the entire incident and humorously remarked that she couldn’t predict the outcome of a battle between Harmanpreet and Devine, adding that the Indian skipper did give her a bit of a scare.
