On Day 3 of the pink ball Test, the West Indies’ batting lineup struggled against a formidable Australian fielding and bowling unit.
Despite a promising fifty-run partnership for the second wicket, the Caribbean team failed to capitalize on starts in the middle order, unable to apply significant pressure. Australia, recovering from a batting hiccup on Saturday, successfully reduced the Windies’ lead and declared with a wicket in hand on Day 2.
With the scoreboard at 123/4, the West Indies aimed to stabilize their innings, particularly relying on Hodge and Justin Greaves.
The duo managed to add 25 runs for the fifth wicket before Head intervened with a brilliant play. In the 49th over bowled by Nathan Lyon, Hodge attempted a flick, sending the ball to short leg where Head was strategically positioned. Displaying exceptional skill, Head cleanly stopped the ball and swiftly threw it at the stumps.

Despite Hodge’s desperate dive, the third umpire reviewed the call, revealing that the bat had bounced outside the crease. Despite being over the line, Hodge had not grounded his crease, as the bat was still in the air.
