India resumed their innings in commanding fashion, with KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal extending their partnership to 201 runs and taking the lead to 191/0.
Jaiswal’s brilliant century was the highlight of the morning session until Mitchell Starc finally broke through, dismissing Rahul. Devdutt Padikkal then joined Jaiswal, and the pair maintained India’s momentum, guiding the team to 275/1 by lunch.
However, Australia struck immediately after the break, with Josh Hazlewood dismissing Padikkal on the first ball of the session. Despite the setback, Jaiswal and Virat Kohli steadied the innings, with Jaiswal reaching a magnificent 150.
As India’s lead continued to swell, Australia’s frustration grew, especially for Pat Cummins, who found himself undone by fortune during a crucial moment.
On the fifth ball of the 91st over, Cummins bowled a back-of-a-length delivery around the leg stump, which Jaiswal attempted to glance toward fine leg.
The ball brushed his gloves and flew past a diving Alex Carey, racing to the boundary. Cummins, visibly exasperated, held his head in disbelief as the stroke of luck added to Jaiswal’s remarkable day.

Meanwhile, Twitter buzzed with admiration for Jaiswal’s batting brilliance and the fortunate turn of events, celebrating his determination and resilience.
