WATCH : Jordan Cox’s flashiness costs easy run out opportunity against the Stars

In BBL 13’s Melbourne showdown, the Renegades won the toss and opted to bat first against the Stars. Seeking to enhance their playoff prospects, the Glenn Maxwell-led team faced early setbacks but aimed to recover during the middle overs.

A critical moment unfolded in the 14th over when a peculiar run-out opportunity arose, courtesy of a slip from Jordan Cox. Attempting to cut a short delivery wide outside the off stump on the third ball, Beau Webster ended up with an inside edge towards the wicketkeeper.

The ball deflected off Cox’s pad to the short third-man region, where a fielder quickly retrieved it and threw accurately towards the striker’s end. With Stars’ batters Webster and Hilton Cartwright stranded halfway down the pitch, Cox had a prime opportunity to grab the ball and dislodge the stumps.

However, Cox’s attempt to seize the ball with one hand and throw it at the stumps proved flashy, leading to a crucial miss. The ball slipped from his palm, and he inadvertently broke the stumps with his hand, failing to effect the run-out.

Recognizing this error promptly, Webster, who was caught in the middle, rushed back to the crease and narrowly survived. The Twitterverse closely observed this blunder, promptly sharing opinions on the unfortunate miss.
