England’s white-ball captain, Buttler, showcased his batting prowess once again, propelling his team to 138-5 from 80 balls in a weather-affected match at Emirates Old Trafford. His innings included three powerful fours, and he played a crucial role in setting a competitive total.
Unfortunately, the rain interrupted the game for the second time and showed no signs of relenting, ultimately preventing Spirit from having a chance to reply. As a result, both teams remained winless after their first two matches in The Hundred.
In the previous match against Welsh Fire, Buttler had already made an impact with a blistering 18-ball 37. His excellent form continued in Manchester on Saturday afternoon, where he reached his well-deserved fifty in just 29 balls, smashing back-to-back sixes off Spirit leg-spinner Matt Critchley.
Despite the weather interfering with the game, Buttler remained positive and expressed his satisfaction with his personal performance. He regretted not having a full game but acknowledged that the team was eager to play.

Buttler and his teammates were determined to keep their spirits high and hoped that the weather wouldn’t affect the competition too much moving forward.
