Kolkata Knight Riders played a must-win game against Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk and put up a spirited display after being asked to bowl first. The visitors did well to limit the four-time champions to 72/5 in the first 11 overs, during which the opposition failed to score a boundary for six overs.
While Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja were at the crease, it was only a matter of time before they broke free, which they eventually did after facing 41 balls. However, it was not Dube’s big hit, which sailed over extra cover, that grabbed everyone’s attention, but what followed.
Suyash Sharma bowled a full and wide delivery on the fifth ball of the 12th over, and Dube punished him by smashing the ball for a six to launch a counter-attack. Unfortunately, the ball went straight towards the cheerleaders who were seated on chairs at the boundary.
The ball hit one of the chairs, but fortunately, the cheerleaders managed to move out of harm’s way just in time. It was fortunate that no one was hurt, as the impact could have been severe.
Fans on Twitter were impressed with the cheerleaders’ quick reflexes, and they were also thrilled to see Dube attacking the bowlers while the rest of his team struggled on the slow and low pitch.
