During the IPL match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore, the skipper of LSG, KL Rahul, sustained a leg injury while chasing a ball towards the third man fence. He was observed holding his right thigh while running.
Although the LSG physios brought a stretcher, Rahul chose to walk back to the dugout despite the pain. Krunal Pandya took charge as the captain of LSG in Rahul’s absence.
LSG’s opening batsman, Rahul, has scored 274 runs in IPL 2023, making him the team’s second highest run-scorer after his partner Kyle Mayers. However, his performance has faced criticism due to a low strike rate of 114, indicating that he has been slow in accumulating his runs.
The physiotherapist is attending to KL Rahul’s injury, and unfortunately, the stretcher is being brought onto the field, which is not a positive sign for LSG. However, with the assistance of a few team members, Rahul manages to stand up, albeit limping, and make his way towards the stretcher. The owner of LSG appears to be concerned. As a result, a substitute player comes on for Rahul.
LSG received another setback as the broadcaster confirmed that their left-arm pacer, Jaydev Unadkat, sustained an injury on Sunday. It is noteworthy that both Unadkat and Rahul are part of India’s squad for the World Test Championship final against Australia, scheduled to commence on June 7 at the Oval in London.
