Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal’s promising form came to an abrupt end as Mitchell Starc dismissed him on the very first ball of the Test.
However, Shubman Gill joined KL Rahul to build a solid partnership, frustrating the Australian bowlers through the morning session.
The right-handed pair displayed resilience until Starc returned for his second spell and unleashed havoc with the pink ball. In the first ball of the 21st over, Starc bowled a short-of-a-length delivery just outside off stump to Virat Kohli, who found himself in two minds.
As the ball nipped slightly inward, Kohli hesitated with a half-hearted attempt to leave it and ended up edging it to the slip cordon. At second slip, Steve Smith made no mistake, completing the catch and handing Starc his third wicket of the match.

The dismissal was eerily similar to Kohli’s first-innings exit in Perth, leaving fans on Twitter to experience déjà vu, once again marveling at Starc’s mastery with the pink ball.
