Jemimah Rodrigues took on the role of an anchor within the dressing room as India Women celebrated their groundbreaking Test victory over Australia Women at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Rodrigues enthusiastically conducted light-hearted interviews with players and support staff, adding a fun dynamic to the atmosphere.

India Women achieved their inaugural Test win against Australia Women, clinching an eight-wicket triumph in the solitary Test held in Mumbai, concluding on December 24. After Australia posted 219 runs batting first, India responded strongly with 406 runs. They then restricted Australia to 261 in their second innings. The hosts effortlessly chased down the 75-run target.

In a post-match video featured on bcci.tv, Rodrigues, who contributed a crucial 73 runs in the first innings, assumed the role of an interviewer, engaging with players and support staff. When she approached senior opener Mandhana, the batter responded cheekily, adding a light-hearted touch to the interaction.

Mandhana displayed an impressive performance, scoring 74 off 106 in the first innings and an unbeaten 38 off 61 in the second. Off-spinner Sneh Rana was awarded the Player of the Match title for securing seven wickets in the Test. Although Rana received the Player of the Match recognition for her 3/56 & 4/63 against Australia, she credited skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s double strike on Day 3 as pivotal in determining the Test’s outcome.

Harmanpreet made crucial breakthroughs by dismissing Tahlia McGrath (73) and Australian captain Alyssa Healy (32), propelling India Women into a commanding position. Reflecting on India Women’s historic victory, Rana acknowledged the captain’s significant contribution with the ball, stating, “We were focused on the present moment, and Harmanpreet’s two wickets truly turned the tide in our favor.”
