WATCH : MS Dhoni loses cool at Chepauk after CSK’s poor bowling

Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who have won the IPL championship four times, bounced back from their five-wicket defeat against Gujarat Titans in the opener of the 2023 season by defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 12 runs at their home ground on Monday.

CSK’s batting effort, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 57 off 31 balls and Devon Conway’s 47 off 29 balls, helped them post a formidable total of 217/7. However, CSK gave away 13 wides and five no-balls while bowling, limiting their victory margin to just 12 runs as LSG ended their innings at 205/7.

This is not the first time that CSK’s bowling unit has struggled in IPL 2023. In the match against Gujarat Titans, they conceded 12 extra runs, including six wides and two no-balls.

During the post-match presentation ceremony, CSK captain MS Dhoni expressed his concerns about the bowling and mentioned that if they continue to bowl like this, they might need a new captain. Dhoni also emphasized the importance of bowling according to the conditions and keeping an eye on what the opposition bowlers are doing.

He added that there should be no no-balls or extra wides, or else he will be off after his second warning, with a smile on his face. The IPL shared Dhoni’s comments on social media.
