WATCH : Naseem Shah ‘unluckiest cricketer’ after three DRS denials on the trot

Pakistan dominated their rivals Sri Lanka in the second Test at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, moving closer to bowling out the hosts after securing a massive first-innings lead of 410 runs. The duo of Nouman Ali and Naseem Shah wreaked havoc on the Sri Lankan batting lineup, putting Pakistan in a commanding position to clinch the series victory.

During the 62nd over of the third innings, Naseem Shah displayed impressive bowling skills against Ramesh Mendis. He cleverly deceived the batsman with a well-angled delivery that struck Mendis on the knee roll. However, the umpire ruled it not out, and upon review (DRS), it was clear that the ball was sliding down the leg side.

Shah persisted with his brilliant tactics and almost replicated the same delivery on the very next ball, this time getting closer to trapping Mendis lbw. Unfortunately, the DRS showed that the ball was just brushing the leg stump, saving Mendis once again.

Undeterred, Shah remained focused and delivered what seemed to be a perfect ball on his third attempt, leading to the umpire raising his finger for Mendis’s dismissal. However, Mendis, determined to prolong his stay, challenged the call yet again and survived as the DRS indicated the ball was narrowly missing the stumps.

This unprecedented sequence left Naseem Shah utterly dismayed, and he fell flat to the ground in frustration upon seeing the replay on the big screen. The incident drew sympathy from fans on social media, who were also amused by the sheer uniqueness of the situation. Despite the setback, Pakistan remained in a commanding position in the Test match, thanks to their dominant performance with both bat and ball.
