At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday, Gujarat Titans opted to field first and put up a clinical bowling performance, restricting Delhi Capitals to 162/8 in their 20 overs.
Mohammed Shami led the charge in the powerplay, followed by Alzarri Joseph and Rashid Khan who bowled brilliantly in the middle overs and death respectively.
Rashid was particularly impressive, taking three wickets while conceding just 31 runs in his four overs. However, he had a close call during the match after an unfortunate run-in with Sarfaraz Khan in the 15th over.
During Rashid’s second over, Sarfaraz Khan opted to tuck away the fifth delivery for a single towards deep mid-wicket, keeping his eye on the ball and failing to notice that Rashid was standing in the middle of the pitch.
The collision was inevitable, and Sarfaraz crashed into Rashid, who fell to the ground in discomfort. Fortunately, Rashid was able to continue and ended up wreaking havoc as usual, but the incident had the fans on the edge of their seats for a few moments.
