On Saturday, during the IPL 2023 match at the Eden Gardens, Gujarat Titans coach Ashish Nehra was in high spirits as his team faced Kolkata Knight Riders. Seeking revenge for their prior defeat at home a few weeks earlier, Nehra was pleased as Joshua Little and Mohammed Shami teamed up to take out the KKR middle order.
He laughed and gave a thumbs up to the camera. Later, when KKR was held to a final score of 179 for seven with the dismissal of Andre Russell, Nehra applauded the GT bowlers for their performance. Throughout the day, the veteran India pacer wore a smile, even during a humorous moment with presenter Murali Kartik, who appeared to be in pain while Nehra was doubled over in laughter, as shown in a funny clip broadcasted on television.
The incident occurred in Kolkata before the match began, during a rain delay. However, the footage of the incident was broadcasted towards the end of KKR’s innings.
The footage shows Ashish Nehra and Murali Kartik engaged in a conversation beside the pitch prior to the KKR-GT match. During their exchange, the Gujarat head coach playfully attacked his former teammate, causing Kartik to double over in apparent pain and collapse to the ground.
Despite Kartik receiving assistance to get up, Nehra continued to laugh uncontrollably. After the clip was aired, the camera turned to the GT dugout where Nehra was still in stitches. When asked to explain the incident in the commentary box, Kartik could only describe it as “unexplainable”.
