WATCH : Nielsen’s ‘gully cricket’ level of game awareness costs team hilarious single

Choosing to bat first, the Sydney Thunder reached 37/1 in the powerplay, seeing the departure of Australian cricket legend David Warner. English opener Alex Hales showcased promise with delightful drives, accompanied by Cameron Bancroft, who entered at number 3 after Warner’s dismissal.

Amidst the intense cricketing action, a touch of hilarity ensued following an unnecessary underarm throw by Strikers bowler Jamie Overton.

On the final ball of the 3rd over, Bancroft directed the ball straight to Overton, who, after casually collecting it, under-armed a throw toward the stumps. However, the ball rolled past the poles.

Unaware of this spontaneous act, wicketkeeper Harry Neilsen was preparing to change ends and looking around, blissfully oblivious to the ball’s trajectory. Consequently, the ball slipped past him as Overton belatedly tried to grab his attention, allowing Bancroft to capitalize on the opportunity and sneak a single.

Twitter users found this incident amusing and took to social media to share their playful comments and jests.
