In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023-24, during the knockout match between Uttar Pradesh and Delhi at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Chennai, Delhi’s Nitish Rana was involved in a heated exchange with UP batter Ayush Badoni while he was batting.
A viral video captured the moment when Badoni, after completing a run, arrived at the non-striker’s end, where Rana, who had just finished his bowling, confronted him angrily.
The two players engaged in a war of words, and the situation quickly escalated, prompting the on-field umpire to step in and diffuse the tension.
In 2023, Nitish Rana captained Kolkata Knight Riders in the absence of Shreyas Iyer and found himself in a heated argument with Hrithik Shokeen during a match against Mumbai Indians.
At Wankhede Stadium, Shokeen dismissed Rana cheaply, and as Rana walked off, Shokeen appeared to say something, which provoked Rana. He turned back, and the two exchanged words in a fiery confrontation.

Currently, Rajasthan Royals have acquired Nitish Rana for INR 4 crores, while surprisingly, Kolkata Knight Riders did not place a bid for him. Meanwhile, Ayush Badoni has been retained by Lucknow Super Giants.
