Despite losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Delhi Capitals made a blazing start, courtesy of openers Jake Fraser-McGurk and Prithvi Shaw, who amassed 34 runs in just the initial two overs.
Taking advantage of Gujarat’s sloppy fielding, the Shaw-Fraser duo launched an aggressive onslaught. However, the momentum shifted in favor of the visitors when Gujarat’s Sandeep Warrier dismissed Fraser-McGurk in the fourth over, followed by Shaw’s dismissal in the same over, much to Delhi’s dismay and Gujarat’s jubilation.
In the fifth delivery of the fourth over, Warrier delivered a short-length ball to Prithvi Shaw, who made good contact but lacked perfect timing, sending it towards deep square for a maximum.
Positioned at deep backward square, Gujarat’s Noor Ahmad quickly assessed the trajectory of the ball, sprinting with remarkable speed. The Afghan spinner charged forward, diving low to secure the catch.
Displaying confidence in his effort, Noor received applause from his teammates as Shaw was declared out. However, the on-field umpires opted to review the catch. Third umpire Akshay Totre confirmed that Noor’s fingers were indeed underneath the ball, resulting in Shaw’s departure from the crease.
